Love losing it’s sparkle.
A time to love and a time to leave
Your eyes meet across the crowded room
you move slowly towards each other
it’s like there is no one else in the room.
You say “hi” he says “hi, would you like to dance”
and you say “yes” and the rest well let’s say is history.
Next comes the wedding proposal then the gorgeous wedding
and then the pitter patter of little feet.
But 50 years down the track and the kids have all grown,
you look into your husband’s eyes and try and find that sparkle
that was there 50 years ago when you first met
yet no matter how hard or long you look you just can’t seemed to find it.
The love you once had is now lost and no matter how hard you try you know
there is no way you will ever find it again.
So you turn to the room pull out a suitcase to pack your clothes
your husband walks in wondering what you are doing.
You say “I love you and I always have, but until you look at me the same way you
did 50 years ago, I have to go away to give you time to think about why you used
to look at me that way and find a way to look at me like that again”
And she walked out the door and he was standing there speechless and unable to move,
and yet he didn’t know that would be the last time he ever saw his wife,
the wife he had always cherished and adored, yet he was unable to tell his wife
he was slowly losing his eye site and that was the reason they no longer had that sparkle.
He was a proud man and knew his wife would make such a fuss so he let her walk.
Within a couple of months of his wife walking out the man woke one morning to complete
darkness, his eye site was completely gone yet in his mind he’ll always see his wife
as he did the moment he first laid eyes on her.
