Latest news and information from Abidjan in Ivory Coast indicates Mr. Laurent Gbagbo has been arrested and detained. Confirmed sources report that Gbagbo was arrested in an underground chamber of the presidential palace with his family.

M. Laurent Gbagbo and his wife were arrested by pro-Ouattara forces led by French forces who broke into Gbagbo’s premises and picked him up. Forces loyal to Alhassane Ouattara were seen all around Mr. Gbagbo’s resident during the arrest process.

It is said that, Laurent Gbagbo was made to put on a bulletproof vest as opposing forces threatened to shoot and kill him instantly. He, with his wife were highly protected by French forces to prevent any humiliation or attack from angry mob.

M. Laurent Gbagbo and his wife have been sent to the Gulf hotel in Abidjan where Mr. Alhassane Ouattara resides. Laurent Gbagbo is been treated well and it is expected that the next action is to get M. Gbagbo to declare total surrender of power to m. Alhassane Ouattara.
