The Oscars or the Annual Academy Awards are by far the world’s most prestigious awards when it comes to the world of cinema. The entire world waits with bated breath to see who’s performance is applauded and who’s discarded. Who is actually an actor and who is not, is decided by the Oscars. So like always this year too the 83rd Oscars were held with much speculation. Hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, the awards ceremony went off smoothly and was loved by all.

However, there is still a debate going on with regard to two Bollywood actresses who were seen at the red carpet. The issue of debate is that who looked better at the Oscars. For those who don’t know; Mallika Sherawat and Aishwarya Rai,  both extremely popular Bollywood actresses, were seen at the red carpet of this year’s Oscars. Mallika wore a dazzling white sequin gown, heavy dangling earrings and average looking black pumps; while Aishwarya wore a maroon colored sequin gown by Armani, weird looking flower shaped earrings and an egg shaped bracelet on one of her hands. She also had with her a maroon Jimmy Choo lana clutch, which looked more like a tiffin box that I used to take to school in kinder-garden! Anyways, while Aishwarya Rai looked bloated and chubby, Mallika Sherawat looked slim and sexy as always. Aishwarya’s overall look just wasn’t pleasing at all since, her gown was too plain and purely out of shape. Maybe a slit or two on either of the sides of the gown and a diamond necklace on her neck would have pumped up her look, but otherwise, she looked like an aunty who’d come for some free wine and cake (with her husband of course)! If someone forces me to say something nice about Aishwarya’s look at the Oscars, then I’d say it would have to be solely her eyes, since, they were the only part of her body that looked stunning! By the way, if anyone hasn’t noticed, her teeth weren’t exactly pearly white, and were rather a slight shade of off-white!

Coming to Mallika Sherawat, I think her look overall was pretty chic and classy. The white sequin dress fit her figure extremely well by accentuating her sexy butt. The black pumps were a contrast. And thank god she didn’t have any tacky clutch or weird shaped bracelet on her hands. But there definitely were two thing that I didn’t like about Mallika Sherawat at this year’s Oscars. And those were- first, her wide, open-mouthed poses for the shutterbugs. Mallika since time immemorial has a crazy thing for smiling to the cameras with her mouth wide open. We all know how peculiar and lunatic-like such a look looks once captured, but Mallika never listens to anybody and poses precisely that way, time and again. Sometimes I feel like tweeting and telling her, to close her mouth before a flie enters and settles down in her lungs, but I don’t dare, since I love her too much! The second fault in her look was with her hair. Though Mallika has short hair, there was definitely scope for a bit of experimentation. Her hair could undoubtedly have been made to look more stunning, if they were either straightened completely or were fringed. Even curling them up completely would have given her an unconventional look but such a hairstyle would have hidden her slim face.

So, I guess its pretty clear as to who’s look I liked more and as to who’s I hated! But then, who am I to decided?

So then, why don’t you decide for yourself? Glance at Mallika’s and Aishwarya’s Oscar 2011 pictures and make your opinion.
