There is nothing simpler than meditation. It calms the mind and body by taking time out from the busy hustle and bustle of modern life.

We experience everything in the world with such break-neck speed that it can be overwhelming. Meditation has been the answer to the rush and fuss of the world since time began.

In it’s most simplest form, it is an escape from the world. There are times when breaking away, taking off your watch, turning off your cell-phone are important actions for the individual’s sanity. We are on call 24/7 nowadays and meditation is a way to make this escape ‘acceptable’ for the wider society.

It also lets us think. The masses of information thrown at us every second of the day is a testament to the interconnectivity of the world and all its facets. But by meditating, we are putting a wall up against the eternal cacophony of information. Meditation is a sign that you can be ‘your own person’ since you are unconnected with the world. You can truely be yourself, not only a conduit for other information.

If it was good enough for Buddha it’s good enough for us all. We can all find a nirvarna of sorts in the silence and contemplation of meditation.
