Movie review.

This movie is come from Indonesia that shows about silat and has been played in Cannes film festival. Maybe lots of you haven’t heard about silat yet. So, maybe watching this movie will give you a simple introduction on how good is silat.

Like other martial arts movies, this movie is full of self defense action and violence. This movie starts with Minangkabau culture, a city in West Sumatera, Indonesia. It tell about a boy named Yuda, who go “merantau” to Jakarta (capital city of Indonesia). Every boy from Minangkabau ethnic has to follow tradition to go for “Merantau” (a tradition in which people go to other places to found experiences for better living).

After arriving in Jakarta, destiny brings Yuda meet an orphan girl named Astri, when he was on the phone; he found Astrid was in torment by a bunch of people from human trafficking organization. The organization is lead by Ratger (played by Mads Koudal, a Denmark Actor). Ratger men strive to find Astri who about to be sold, but Yuda try to rescue Astri.

Of course this change Yuda purposes who should go for “merantau” instead of saving Astri. Every step that Yuda took to save Astri is marred by a fight scene using silat techniques. And in the end, Astri successfully rescued by Yuda. Then Yuda take Astri to his homeland, Minangkabau.

This movie is made in good quality and in long process. The producer said that he didn’t want to make such a carelessly movie. You could watch the movie trailer in youtube. The producer said that lots people and countries that interested in the movie after watching the trailer.
