The undying thirst for excellence exists in all mankind. It’s because they want to transform this world into a paradise of hope and a Utopia to live. But, how can this so-called “excellence” be obtained? Will this ever be granted to us or will we end up in disappointment?

            In the global perspective, there had been uncountable accomplishments developed by science. All these inventions and discoveries are fruits of hardwork, patience, sacrifices of the distinguished men who contributed in improvement and modernization. These contributors are not only hard-working individuals but are also open-minded. In the long process of experimentations, they didn’t stop to the point of self-satisfaction, but instead, they interact with other scientists and ask for consultations to verify their concepts. Not to mention their willingness to accept criticisms that brought them to further development of their work. They believe in the purpose of co-existence — to share ideas and experiences for the sake of correcting errors and broadening concepts. Sharing of abilities is indeed notable. If the intellect of an individual is astounding, how much more is the combination of human minds? It sure gives a greater impact of achievement. This sharing of ideas was even applied by known physicists William Shockley, Robert Bardeen, and Walter Brattain. This trio developed the solid state transistor. The famous couple — Marie and Pierre Curie, worked in partnership in the discovery of radium and polonium. These scientists illustrated the significance of united ideas and collaborative efforts.

     In the same way, our nation’s people must also have a union of wit and experience. Through this, accompanied by labor, the acquisition of excellence can be made possible. It is only a sense of cooperation we need to push us into excellence, for excellence is a reward of labor. A selfless labor, that is!
