An introduction to this increasingly rare and unusual tektite.
Moldavite is an increasingly rare and unusual crystal. It was formed 14.8 Million years ago when a Meteorite entered the earths atmosphere and is it did so, it became super heated. It struck the earth in the Moldau valley of Bohemia as a white hot projectile. The super heated meteorite melted the earth rock that it struck and fused with it. The result is a type of rock similar to volcanic glass in fact it was even regarded as a kind of Obsidian at one time however this is entirely different to Obsidian , it is one of earths only types of natural glass created by meteor impact.

Moldavite is dark green in colour and has become something of a favourite among collectors. crystal healers and metaphysical users alike. The fact that it has both earthly and extra terrestrial origins is what makes it so unusual.
Among Crystal healers, it has gained a high reputation for the speed with which effects healing. Aside from being green in appearance, it is also green in it’s nature, and is used to help alleviate the effects of pollution and geopathic stress caused by heavy industrialisation. It has been used by crystal healers to help people who suffer from long term industry related conditions.
It’s green colour also has direct relationship with the heart chakra, with which it shares it’s colouring. In considering the properties of Moldavite it is worth remembering that it’s creation was sudden and therefore any effects it has on the user or wearer may also be sudden.

An estimated 275 tonnes of Moldavite were produced by the meteorite impact. Moldavite amulets, cutting tools and arrowheads were being used 25,000 years ago. Today however it has become rare with only four mines remain in the Czech republic producing it.
