Wow! Last night my neighbor had a gathering, and it was cool until she passed a wine cooler to her 15 year old daughter. Is that a crime?

Last time I check drinking under 21 was a crime. Call me old fashion but I’m 35 and will still not drink or curse in front of my parents. What is this world coming to?

The party was going nice. The music was ok and the food was awesome. The people smoking was getting on my nerve because I have asthma, but I just stayed out of the way. It was about 20 adults and at least 19 children there mostly teenage girls. The older crowd played card games while the younger generation dance alot. I’m bouncing from chair to chair to avoid the smoke. The host of the party announced that she had just finished college and wanted every one to know. Yes i was very happy for her, we all need education.

An hour passed and her 15 year old said Ma can we have a wine cooler and she said yes,

Hold up hold up I said, Did you hear what she ask you.” “Yeah”, she replied. I was totally shocked and quickly looked at my two girls as if their life depended on their next move. The host said girl calm down I rather them drink with me than a stranger onthe streets. I was so out done and speechless I said goodbye and left.

I thought that I have embarressed my girls so i started to say sorry and they said please ma, those girls will be pregnant before they get out of high school or even if they finish. It was a relief. The only thing we can drink together is orange juice. After awhile we laughed about it but to me it was not funny. Children are our future and its up to us to teach them the way to go .

Gosh! You surprise me. I didn’t know this about the USA. In this country children can drink legally from eighteen, but many drink a lot earlier and it is becoming quite quite a problem. I come from an Italian family and I drank a little wine mixed with water with meals from quite an early age. Now I rarely drink at all. The same happened with my sons and they hardly drink now. Sometimes when you are brought up doing something there is no novelty in doing it when you are older. An interesting piece.

Yes, it is illegal to give a child a drink in the USA if they’re under 21. I would never even consider doing something like that. The mom could get into some serious trouble if she’s ever caught doing it.

    I agree with you completely.

It hasn’t been that long ago down here that a teenaged boy left a party similar to the one you describe, hit a tree and killed himself. The host parents were charged criminally.
