A descriptive essay I wrote my freshman year in high school.
Although it is very simple, one of my most favorite and relaxing things in the world is to go to bed when it is storming outside. While I am wrapped up in bed and it’s storming, I experience all kinds of feelings, sights, and sounds. It is a great time to think about your day and relax your mind.
Although most of the feelings are good, not all of them are. An uncomfortable feeling that I sometimes experience is the first shock to my feet when they touch the cold window. The window is sometimes like an iceberg. A more pleasant feeling is the warm blanket wrapped around me like a fluffy cloud as it thunders outside. As I am lying in bed, I also experience some sights.
When I was younger, some of the things I would see while it was storming would scare me, and I couldn’t sleep. Now, they relax me. At the foot of my bed, I see our dog, Bunny, sleeping, keeping my feet warm and toasty. Some things that I hear also relax me.
As I am nearly asleep with my eyes shut, the sounds of the storm help me go to sleep. The pounding of the rain relaxes me because I know that it is cold and wet outside, but I am warm and dry in my bed. Another sound is the dog snoring loudly. Even in her sleep, Bunny never fails to make me laugh.
With the thunder, rain, and wind going on, I start to doze off. I am completely relaxed, without thinking of the worries of the day. While the storm subsides, I start to snore. And, without realizing it, I fall asleep.
