How I feel during my Favourite time of the day, well night really.

It’s 4am. The world is asleep.

Looking to the heavens; a velvety dark curtain there to tuck the world in.

The stars, the nightlights, twinkling; letting their hair down, the brightness blurring at the edges.

I wish I knew all their names, as they keep me company.

The moon sits majestically, like a kind on his throne; the shadows he bears, witness to his long and lonely life.

A few wispy clouds amble by, like tourists, surveying the world below.

The low moan of the wind caressing the leaves on the trees; the scent it brings unique to this time of night.

There’s the hoot of an owl somewhere is the distance, not loud enough to disturb the tranquility.

The rustling of an animal scurrying through the brush, walking its own little path.

This is the overture of the night; the silence of a traffic  existence, proudly playing to no-one.

Some may call this silence, but its not. Silence comes with death alone.

This serenity; this solitude as I sit quite peacefully on my front step; my heart calm and relaxed.

To look across the lawn at the glittering gems of first dew, diamonds enriching the earth.

But this don’t last.

On the horizon intrudes the dawn, with its arrays of blues, and pinks and creams.

The music of the night is drowned out by the songs of morning birds, not knowing of their unwelcome arrival.

The distant hum of traffic, getting closer and closer; the noise getting louder as the numbers increase.

I look to the distance and see the eyes of headlights, as they glide over the hill.

The bald head of the sun, can just been seen on the horizon, like a peeping Tom, perving on the scene.

Bringing with it the end of my world, with the reality of daybreak.

A harsh, bright, noisy world filled with people full of their own self importance.

So it’s time to go back inside and hide once more.

A forced march I don’t want to take. My perfect world is gone.

But i still get the last laugh; cause I know my night will chase it away once again!
