I’ve pretty much lost hope in our future.
Well, I probably sound conceited and arrogant and all that good stuff by saying this, but my generation sucks. Really. I think it does.
Most of what I see happening is video games, dropping out of school, drugs, and sex. Oh, and I forgot: disrespect. All of this shit seems to have overcome my age group. Ignoring some of the most important things that will help our generation form a better society in tomorrow’s day and age. Now, don’t get me wrong. There are a lot of more… mature people out there that have their priorities straight, but most of my age group is backwards.
Finance, business, work skills, things OTHER THAN sex, drugs, and video games are all almost lost arts. Not many teenagers about 16 know anything about financing a car or having a stock protfolio or paying mortgage or bills on a credit card; rather they ride off of their parents’ money and support. I dunno. It’s irritating seeing this many kids with a lot of potential going down a path of negativity. It’s sad.
Other things that I see include how people dress. I’ve noticed that a lot of girls dress very… exposingly so to speak. I’m not sure why this is, but to me it seems that it’s because they hav eno confidence in their personality, rather their body is theri self esteem. Kinda sad. And guys often times will sag their pants, which, to me, has no point.
It also seems that we love to take out our anger in spreading rumors and creating drama. I am very against this behavior and really hope it stops one day; drama–>depression–>cutting–>suicide … … …
In any case…
My generation has a lot of potential. And I mean A LOT. We have computer genius kids, logical and solution focused kids, and all sorts of other great things locked up behind this façade of “I want to be cool and fit in” kind of attitude. I see it a lot.
Well my view on it is that with time people will realize that being cool isn’t that important in the grand scheme of things. An with that change of heart will come a more positive outlook. But until then, I think we’re in trouble when my generation takes over the country’s decision making position.
Just remember:
All it takes is a little bit of balls to be different to make a change to this. An old friend who has since left my life one told me: “In a world of cheerios, be the froot loop.”
