For the love of me!
I’ve always been told that I’m special but I have always taken it with a grain of salt, What I am trying to say is that I finally got confirmation of just how special I am. Democracy was introduced not too long ago in Nigeria after years of military rule; I won’t bore you with the happenings of that time. Anyway, the position of the President and Governor are open to candidates for four years constituting one term after which they can re-contest for a second term. It is usually a normal occurrence for them to get a second term; in fact, not getting a second term is odd. Now to my story. My governor has spent four years and in a few days from now, there’s going to be another election. However, things are not quite going as he has planned. The competition is very stiff. I have not seen such competition before against an incumbent governor no wonder he thinks I am special. So how do I know that he thinks I am special? Well, he said he wants to continue ruling because he wants to serve em…well he didn’t actually say my name, he said the people of his state. This is good news right? As one of those people, I think that makes me special. What I do not understand is the fact that after serving me so well for four years, he’s so anxious about this election.
My governor thinks I am so special that he is very desperate to serve me. He locked up the stadium to prevent the opposition from carrying out their rally; he blocked them at every turn, locked up schools that were to be used as alternative venue, and has brought their rally to a stand still. Why would he do such a thing? You guessed right! Because he thinks I am special and so does not want me to be led astray by his opposition’s lying tongue. Such love! So willing and eager to serve me. However, after four years of serving me, he should not be so desperate after all the good work he has put in place for my good right? Please someone should tell him that the highest form of service he can render to me and to the people of his state right now would be to give us the freedom to choose who we want to serve us!
