This is my life, it is where I am at, and it is where I want to be in 40 years time. To often is a case that people aim to live lives of comfort. To get their degree, the have kids, further their career then die. What have you given to the world in that lifetime? I want to live on the edge, to push the boundaries of the norm and be remembered not for selfish gain but because i’m a dreamer and my dream is to see the world change to a better place.

My ideal Day

When, what feels like, the weight of the world is on your shoulders, you need to escape. Leave, run, hide from the crap life throws at you. Life is not as easy as perceived, at 5 years old, trying to live your life the way you ‘should’ only ends up in your shortcomings landing you in tears and fears for the future.  Laziness is hiding, but only builds guilt when you fail those who believe in you the most… I digress. What do I do when I need to escape? I think of a day in my life, 40 years from now. I want to live my life differently, and that is what I intend to do…

The date is 07/03/2051. It is a fresh Spring Monday morning, and up awakens a 55 year old Samuel Taylor. He doesn’t quite spring into action, more slides like a sloth of his bed and onto his feet, half asleep, grunting at the rude awakening given to him by his flying alarm clock. Yeah, the one that can only be turned off when you get it down from air in which it flies, while obnoxiously screaming “Eye of the tiger!” at the top of it’s metal lungs. Sam’s wife Rachel thought it was a great idea, she along with Sam realized its novelty was short lived.

This slow start to the morning, however, was quickly catalysed by the thought of what the day held for both Sam and Rachel.

Sam had his own social enterprise. He likes to call it ‘His business with a heart’. He builds schools in poverty stricken areas across North West Africa. He pays himself, his wife (who works with him), his 14 other staff, pays costs of the business and uses some of the profit to bring dreams of a charity, for teaching people in areas of poverty how to be teachers themselves, to life. The rest he gives to those who need it. He has 3 kids, 2 girls – 1 boy and lives in Conakry, Guinea. Sam and Rachel share a reasonably sized home. A 3 bedroom detached house out in the suburbs of Conakry. It is odd walking into their humble abode. It is like walking into a home where half the family are from England and half the family, African. I guess this is what they as a family try to promote but it is no doubt, odd.
