Just a little piece on my top five pirates.

5 Of My Favourite Pirates

In the wake of the recent pirates of the Caribbean 5 rumours I decided to create a list of the top pirates of the seven seas.

1.       Captain Bluebeard – Bluebeard was the ladies man of the pirate world, the story tells that he had many wives and his reputation precedes him as he becomes feared by many women. He was already an historic tale before a writer called Charles Perrault wrote the story down in 1697.

2.       Captain Blackbeard – Blackbeard is thought to be one of the most feared pirates, but there was never any proof that he actually killed any of his captives, he used the image of fear to become such a powerful pirate but he was eventually killed by Robert Maynard and a small fleet of soldiers.

3.       Captain Kidd – This next pirate was named William Kidd, he plundered many places and sunk many ships. He with his crew of misfits buried their treasure on long island in America. After many years he was finally hanged for piracy in 1701.

4.       Captain Redbeard – Redbeard whose name was Hayreddin Barbarossa was Turkish pirate and most famous for conquering Tunisia. He died in 1546 and was buried in Istanbul.

5.       Calico Jack – John Rackham was his real name, the nickname calico Jack came from the clothing he wore. He is most famous for having two women in his crew, their names were Anne Bonny and Mary Read, Anne Bonny was Rackham’s lover. Both women were disguised as men and after terrorising the Jamaica channel for a number of years he was finally caught and hanged in 1720.
