My reasons for liking autumn the best.
My top ten reasons that autumn is my favorite time of year.

I lived for twelve years in West Texas where we had two seasons. Hot and warm. Having grown up in a state where we had four seasons, I missed those changes so much. I love spring, and summer, winter, too, but my favorite season has always been autumn and these are my reasons:
After a hot summer, finally the weather begins to cool off and relief from the heat is given.
The sky is never clearer or bluer than in the middle of a September day.
The children go back to school!!
While green is a lovely color, I love the way the earth cloaks herself in reds, yellows, gold’s, and orange for fall.
Autumn smells like spices. Cinnamon, cloves, and even dry leaves. The crisp, dry air just carries the scents so well.
Halloween is so much fun. While I don’t dress up any longer in a costume, I love handing out the candy to the little kids when they come to my door. There is nothing cuter than a child of about two in their first Halloween costume.
Thanksgiving and the gathering together of all my family. Turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing. The only time of year that I eat that combination of food.
The Game after Thanksgiving dinner that all the guys just have to watch and none of them see because they all have fallen asleep.
Pumpkin pie.
The beginning of the holiday season, and the first snowfall that usually comes in autumn.
Until my Texas born and bred husband had lived here a few years and gone through the four seasons, he never understood my longing for them. Now, he is just as big a fan of them as I am, although his favorite season will always be summer. Oh, well, no body is perfect.
