The Group of Seven summary.

The Group of Seven came to be in 1920 when seven men named Arthur Lismer, Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A.Y. Jackson, Frank Jonston, J.E.H MacDonaldand Frederick Varley decided they would create Canadian landscapes together. The group travelled around Canada searching for good landscapes to paint. The most common places they went to was Algonquin Park, Georgian Bay, and Laurentians  in Quebec. In 1922 Lawren Harris created a painting that is commonly known today, the painting called “Above Lake Superior”. However, they had many upsetting comments like “hot mush”, and “Hungarian  Goulash” . The Group of Seven still kept painting. Today, in 2009 their art work is still enjoyed by many people .  A new member named Tom Tompson joined the group, and a lot of their artwork is featured in the McMichael’s Art Gallery.
