Describe how European occupation changed the life of  Native Americans. The Europeans impact of their occupation had a devastating effect on the native Americans.  To the Europeans  it was a land of freedom and new hope  but to the Indians  it was a loss of their land and rights. The occupation of the Europeans brought about the end to the existing Native American empires.  The Europeans  introduced Catholic faith and introduced new animals, Which destroyed the land. They introduced cattle sheep, horses and mules as well as new  fruits and vegetables. All these had a harsh impact on the existing way of life for the Native Americans  as the  new  animals had  a devastating effect on their land. C) Explain  whether the impact of the Europeans settlement In America was peaceful. The European  settlement in America was not a peaceful one for the Native Americans. The Native American empires suffered and resulted human sacrifice. Millions of natives died in war and from the introduction of European diseases.  A) This Image gives a false picture  that  life and trade with        the  Europeans was a happy and successful one. The        picture shows that the Indians have guns for hunting, clothing         and blankets of  rich colour. Horses and carriages        assisting them in travel. It shows a community in travel and        they appear moving in harmony with a strong European        influence. B) The source is a bias  point of  view as it is  showing  all the      benefits of European settlements. The Natives  seem      pleased and comfortable with the introduction of Europeans      facilities, goods and equipment. It  is not  showing the real      conflict that the Indians were  faced with.C) The  Europeans had  a strong  impact on the lives of the         Native Americans. The introduction of horses and  carriages         made travel easier and more comfortable. It also offered         them shelter on their journey. The horses made hunting         easier as the men could  move on horseback a lot faster than         the old hunting methods on foot.         The guns offered them protection and security. It  also         made hunting  easier to capture their prey. The women         lives were made easier as they no  longer needed to spend         hours tanning hides  to make clothing for the family. The         introduction of the European fabrics were warmer and         more comfortable to wear.   The Native Americans wanted to live in balance with nature. They lived their lives according to what was available around them. Their communities lived as one and used  the land and its  resources to eat and clothe them. The introduction of the European settlement stripped them from their existing way of life. Their customs and life style was changed dramatically. The Europeans established catholic faith and spread the word of God, which was forced upon the Indians and their existing beliefs. The Europeans valued  everything  in money terms. They offered  the Natives  items  for  trade. The Native Americans way of life changed after trading  with the Europeans.  The Natives wanted metal products  that  they could not  make themselves, such as  axe  heads, knives  and guns. Having guns and  horses completely changed  the way Native Americans hunted for food. New clothing  offered  them warmth  and made the women’s  jobs  easier  then previously. Tanning hides  took a lot of  time, and was not as comfortable  as  the  new clothing. The Europeans introduced, cattle, sheep and new animals which destroyed their land. This forced the Indians to  move  and  find suitable  living grounds. Although the introductions of the new animals and fruit and vegetables  made  hunting easier  but  it robbed them  from their existing cultures. As the natives  had some positive benefits  there  were many negative. They lost their  land and their freedom. The Native population decreased  due to disease, war, and government removal to land that would not support them. The Native Americans easily  became  sick from European imported illnesses. Epidemics killed hundreds of Indians as they had no knowledge and cures for these diseases.

And the lesson in all this diaster is that the civilization which cultivates a mindset which develops high technology and uses it well will eventually conquer those who do not.
