Dear Diary, You wouldn’t Believe what happened last night.
There Was an Eruption on Mt Tarawera Right beside our village!  It happened over night, The First thing that happened was at about eleven O’clock which that was a few earthquakes, then there was a really big earthquake.  It shook the houses like a See – Saw!! All the men were calming down others while some men and I ran to see what’s going on down at the lake… once we arrived we looked at the shaking mountain of Tarawera, and then suddenly there was three massive lines of lava bursting into the air
Like three fire hoses except lava not water!

There were a few people still in canoes steering at the mountain. We all called every one in and we told them to go find shelter of some kind.  Then we were running as fast as we could to find some shelter for ourselves! By then the lava was spreading very fast!  What could we do? Everyone was running into houses and the men took most of the ladies and babies into the church before the men.
By then there was lava all over the place and rocks were getting chucked out of the mountain like they were getting attacked by a group of catapults
Except they were lava rocks!   The Church was full of people by now. Lots of people didn’t make it.  

There was lots of screaming and crying in the church, we were all very scared. (So was I) the lava went right threw all the houses so all of the people in the houses died. By now the walls to the church were very hot. Lots of the people were running round looking for there relatives, not many were found in the church which means there out there dying or dead in someway.
In the church there was an alter and there were five men (including me) and two women standing up there trying to calm everyone.

And then suddenly the windows burst because it was really hot outside, and everyone down from the alter were screaming as the lava started rising up inside the church and burning up there legs, it was burning the floor.
We were panicking, and we were looking for higher ground when suddenly the ground stopped rumbling and the lava slowly disappeared under the ground of the church, all the people but 7 were completely burnt to death by the lava.  There was ash everywhere outside and it was drifting in the smashed windows, they started to need oxygen but they knew they would survive another 2 hours at least.
