NO Power, NO Life.
I don’t know the technicalities behind why there is such is such a massive shortage of electricity in Pakistan. All I know is that without power there is no life. Us city dwellers complain because we cannot iron our clothes on time to leave the house. But for this group of people in the country power is available for up to 18 hours. The people that it really affects are those who have to deal with 18 hours of load shedding. It isn’t just the fact that fans aren’t working during the summer; the real problem is that work and income is halted. If what little that goes into the hands of the poor is also taken away how could they possibly be able to survive? Mother’s complain that their children are literally suffering while the children of the elite are enjoying all the luxuries of the world. The question to ask yourselves is, aren’t we all citizens of the same nation. While watching the news such a mother complained about power cuts and was asked whether she had any idea who was currently in government. She had no idea; it really isn’t a matter that concerns her. She was then asked, if you don’t participate or vote as a citizen do you have the right to complain? I don’t think I have ever heard something so outrageous. The uneducated masses that work just to eat one meal a day, who do not have access to equal education or opportunity are also now being questioned of their rights to basic necessities. What the government does is out of the control of the people, the government will do as it wills and the common people in the end will suffer the consequences. They don’t have the choice to stop working so that they can involve themselves in state affairs. They do not have the power to change what they do not have access to. These powerless masses will one day reach a limit, when it will be a matter of life and death. Survival is a basic instinct that the overwhelming majority of the population must now cohesively work to protect.
