Nylon.
In 1935, nylon is discovered by Wallace Carothers.
Nylon is a synthetic polymer, a plastic, invented on February 28, 1935 by Wallace Carothers at DuPont of Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Material discovery was announced in 1938 and then appeared and the first nylon-based products: a toothbrush with nylon bristles made of nylon fibers (began to be sold on 24 February 1938) and famed stockings Women (marketed since May 15, 1940). Nylon fibers are currently used to produce more synthetic materials, and solid nylon is used as construction material.
During the Second World War, nylon replaced Asian silk in the manufacture of parachutes. It was also used to produce tires, tents, clothes and other objects of military reserves. Nylon production was even used in special paper for U.S. currency. At the beginning of the war, cotton reprenta 80 percent of all fibers used, and synthetic fibers and wool fibers accounted for the remaining 20 percent. Until August 1945, synthetic fibers amounted to 25 percent, while cotton has dropped to 75 percent.
