A story of preparing to go off the grid to survive. Learning the hard knocks of life and being able to deal with it starting now.
The sun is shining and another day has come. Another day to get closer to getting off the grid. What can you do today to prepare yourself for hard times? Think hard times won’t come your way? Think again. Survival of the ready and willing to prepare now is how it’s all going to work out in the end. What happens when you don’t have enough money to pay the bills? What if your money supply runs out? Say you get laid off, your job is terminated unexpectedly, or your just not physically able to work any more. Whowill pay your bills? Ok say you already been through this and now your unemployment benefits are about to run out. What happens next? Will you be able to survive where you are or will you have to move to one of the so called tent cities?
Let’s talk about preparing. Now is the time to start preparing. The oh I will think about that tomorrow just wont work. Times are tough and the sooner you start the better of you and your family will be. For example. Lets talk about utilities that we just take for granted. Gas,water, electric ect. What if the month rolls around and you don’t have enough money to make the payment? The gas company comes to shut off the gas because you are out of cash and just can’t come up with enough money to pay the bills. The real hurt doesn’t hit till after the fact. It’s then that you realize what all you used that natural gas for everyday. All the sudden your cook stove doesn’t work, you have no hot water to do dishes, laundry, and take hot baths. If you have a gas dryer you are out of luck there too, no gas heat so how will you stay warm? Now is the time to prepare for how to survive without the utilities that we just take for granted. Because next week may be the day you just don’t have enough cash to pay the bills.
Alternate sources of energy has to be looked into and today is not a day to soon to get started. A wood stove can be a very useful item that everyone should consider to use now and get used to how it works. You can keep warm all winter using wood that has already fell down in the forest and clean up the Forest too. Not only can it be a heat source but you can also warm your bath water and cook on a wood stove too. This would be a wise investment that would definitely pay off in no time. Another thing you wouldn’t think about especially in some areas of the world with flooding and all is the drought that other areas are dealing with. No burn laws have been put in effect for different areas of the world. If you let trash pile up to long you are going to have another mess. With a wood stove you can burn the trash in a concealed area and get by with it. Another pro to having a wood stove. You might not have enough money for garbage pick up so burn what you can and use your food scraps to feed your animals and start a worm farm. That’s a whole other subject all of it’s own.
