Seriously. For those of us that come to see our friends play shows in the comet tavern in capitol hill area, is it worth it? Check out my opinion as to why the comet should do a little sprucing up.

As I came in to the low light venue with classic and boring red lights that make it hard to see anything after you have been in it for a while, I thought to myself. What’s up with this place?

They haven’t changed a light bulb, let a lone done any painting in the place in over 15 years.

They have constant complaints about a pour selection of drinks and beer, and their toilets are almost always clogged with the chefs special.

Some say it just the way, that its just something that will never change. Others say they are just to cheap to care.

I say its time for a slight change. The dull red lights put me to sleep everytime and as the seats are extremely uncomfortable I get crabby the longer I stay. Maybe they could get a newer neon C sign that isn’t so sleep inducing.

Even some old can lights and a new chair or two would make a big change. Keeping the bathrooms clean and in order would help a ton, and if the bartenders were a bit more accommodating it would probably bring in a stronger crowd, with a lot less complaints.

Everyone is hitting hard times, and the comet is no selection, but I think if they want to draw in more people they should break away from the crowd a little and do something new and special. Make at least ‘look’ like they care.

But that’s just my opinion.
