I don’t like giving advice or recommendation on what to do to live a good life, because everyone is different and understands the meaning "good life"… well… differently. Instead, I prefer to tell how not to live and what not to do to avoid frustration in your every day life. Taking into account the above, I will teach you how to recognize bad things and habits, and I will teach you and myself how to ban them.
I would like to share with you some funny and interesting stories. Hope that you will enjoy them. Do not attempt to copy these things. Simply read the given book and have fun. However, if you decide that some of my experiences can help improving your life, you are more than welcome to ape.
There is one more precaution. If the things-you-don’t-need have broken your defence, do not panic! Instead, think of the best way to get rid of them, and ask for help if you feel you are not capable of coping with this process alone. At this very moment you can open my simple manual, which describes the ways of struggle against one million things you don’t need in your life.
Being an immigrant I know how difficult to adjust to a new system and settle down in a new society. Years of blind searching for a good job, a good place to live, a good partner and healthy relations, years of proving that I am able to achieve something, to fit into a new for me system of values and to find new goals brought me to an idea of writing down my own mistakes and those of my friends to avoid them in future, to analyze them and to extract good lessons from them. My diary has become my Bible of Failures, which led me to realizing the true values of life. Personal and spiritual freedom is among them.
I have learned not to shy away from my mistakes but to avoid and to learn from them, as with every mistake we become wiser.
Here is an old story. A student comes to a master and asks, ‘Master, what do I have to do to become a better person who always acts right?’
Master says, ‘Never make mistakes.’
Student is confused, ‘But how will I know that something is wrong?’
Master smiles and answers, ‘Make mistakes.’
I like this story; however, I think that sometimes it is better to avoid mistakes. You cannot be protected from all bad things in your life, but you can save your valuable time with the help of learning to recognise the ways leading to failure. Also, you have to learn from your failures, if there are ones, and from failures of other people, but to do that you have to open up your eyes and mind and change one thing: your attitude. This will widen your horizons and open new ways of living.
