Doorways, corridors and paths are intriguing to many of us. Where do they lead? What’s on the other side?

When I was a young Camp Fire Girl, we were instructed to choose two or three Native American symbols to create our logo, or badge, for our Camp Fire identity. Mine has lasted my whole life.

The first I chose was a tepee-an equilateral triangle with a rectangular “door” in the center of the bottom line. This was “House with Open Door.” I placed my other two symbols, the Horse and Lightning, on the tepee, on either side of the door. There I am! In a nutshell, this exactly describes who I am today: a horse rider and lover, quick to act, and my home has always been open for groups of all kinds.

Doorways, corridors and paths are intriguing to many of us. Where do they lead? What’s on the other side? I love to walk on trails through the forest and then come out at a lake, or meadow, or stream. Such beauty and often surprises abound. Our world is just packed with beautiful things and great moments. As I mature spiritually, I am discovering a deeper meaning for doorways.

I know now there is a non-local energy field that surrounds us. In fact, we are formed from its very essences; solidified, you could say. This energy is intelligent, loving, and is all-knowing. It is always present, whether I am or not. Whenever my mind wanders, I remember to come back to the present moment and greet my surrounding objects with, “Hello again! Now I’m back.”

The trees greet me with branches that pour out their love and welcome for me. The insects buzz and fly, dipping a hello as they pass. Other people open to reveal their feelings and thoughts, and so do I. I’ve come to realize that every form that is present with me is a doorway. All I have to do is listen, and I am allowed inside, to read about the wisdom and beauty of every thing.

Every person, object or event has a message for me, at every moment. All I have to do to understand, is to be present with it, open myself to receive, then listen to its/their messages. It’s always the truth, for that is all there can be in Presence. I “step through” one doorway after another, and I am at peace. I greet you in the present moment, for we are One.
