A Little Too Much Spam for Me.

In this day and age of the computer world I am often left thinking about how there is nothing done in paper in Star Trek. It’s always done on pads or tricorders. It pleases me to see this because I am upset at the rate we consume trees. I am not an activist, but a person worried about my child’s future.

A little background before I begin. I recently changed my name about two years ago and moved countries. On top of that I learnt that I had to establish myself in the new country I moved to. Example, having a credit rating. Well Only two years later I find myself getting loads of “you been approved for a limit of £15,000.” Credit card mailings. Not only in my name but my husbands as well. Sure this is a common thing. Just as my old name, as well as my stage name and old address is still getting the same exact things. Even though my stage name has no credit cards let alone a credit rating.

Well like anything in my life it started me on a quest. A quest of removal from these companies mailing list. I had known several ways to get removed from the lists in the USA but now in the UK I was at a loss. I was writing return to sender on them. But that didn’t work. So I switched to ripping up the mailings and sending them back to the company at their expense. This didn’t work either. But I am continuing to do so. As they can deal with their own trash. Then I started calling the company’s free phone number and asking for removal, however the last company I was in touch with I proceeded to ask how I could get removed from ALL these company’s lists. He offered me a telephone number, and my quest began. After all, doing this will save the companies money, preserve our natural resources and reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. What more could a person want? Maybe the companies will even lower their rates?!

After calling the company for removal and filling out several online forms I have noticed a huge decrease of unwanted mailings. I have also done this for my USA address. And even added my phone number to the “National Registry Do Not Call List.”
