Looks like companies found a new cheap way to advertise their products. This time they’ve gone very low… literally…

It has come to my attention lately, as I keep seeing this over and over again – advertisements on pavement. Since the snow melted, these are constantly appearing all over the city. I never thought companies could go this low… literally…

Now when you think about it, it’s a really effective and cheap way to advertise something. People can not watch TV, they can not go to commercial site’s on the internet, but at some point they will have to go on foot. And now answer honestly, how many people these days walk with their heads high up? That’s right, 9 out of 10 times these advertisements will be noticed and they cost less than a spray can, since you can do around 20-30 of these stencils with one can, depending on the size. And if you’re afraid to get caught, just give it to a local street boy, pay a few bucks and he’s the one to pay if he gets caught.

Right, so it’s good for the companies, but it’s annoying for the people. At least me. I see advertisements everywhere I go: internet, TV, shops and now I’m seeing them when riding my bike on a far away bike only road. It just ruins my day to see how unfair some companies play compared to their rivals. I’m sure they could find other ways to advertise themselves or at least they could hire some decent graffiti artist to do a nice, big, legal painting on some wall, instead of using a cheap-ass stencil. Not only the outcome would be better, but it would also add to the scenery and support the really talented ones.

Also, I see that government or at least area locals are trying to fight this phenomenon, because I sometimes see it painted over.

What do you think about it? Are there any pavement advertisements in your area? Comment and discuss, let me know! If you agree with my opinion, don’t be afraid to click like.
