I was looking at most of the masters I appreciate and I have found an interesting ingredient in all of them. These were man and women who effected change in their generation and beyond. They had a deep conviction in their endeavors, they were persuaded and they were committed to their cause and no one could talk them out of their agenda. Gandhi was persuaded in non-violence and his method preserved India from colonization. Jefferson was persuaded in his agenda on freedom which we enjoy in America today. I will mention a few in the area of arts, leadership, inventions and exploration… Leonardo, Queen Elizabeth 1, Brunelleschi, Columbus they were persuaded.

Maybe you might be someone that does not know all those other names; I will give you a biblical character known for his persuasion. Paul became the greatest among the apostles not that he had been one of the 12 but he was persuaded enough to die for the cause of Christ. Having seen all these examples you would think that in the 21st Century we will have more people that are fully persuaded in something true and a cause that will bring an answer to our world.

I think artist, writers, leaders etc. can learn from the ways of great masters to effect change; we can not afford to have creators with shaky beliefs. On the other hand an average man and woman can use the power of a deep persuasion to pursue a meaningful life. We all embrace Dr King, a man like us was persuaded and he saw a dream that we all know came true. All of these great people were human like us so we can put excuses on the shelf. Persuasion will save you from empty pursuits. May be today you may want to die to your lesser self so that you may attain a greater purpose. To be continued…
