Poodles – The People Pleaser

I did some research before you have another dog after our English Cocker died.  I caught Poodles because of their intelligence, temperament and basic education.  They are known to be good family dogs and a good guard dog.  It also seems to get along well with other animals and sometimes even to the point of being protective of the smaller animals.

I have the honor of being owned by three poodles at this time, Meg, Bob and Charley.  All three have excellent personalities, although they are three completely different personalities.

There is a misconception that women are better pets, and have better personalities, which I thought was the case in the first place!  Meg, our female Poodle, is very quiet, reserved and dignified.  She is very affectionate, but on their own terms.  It also tends to be a little stubborn sometimes!  Sometimes it works as: “It can not be bothered to do it!”

Our males, Bob and Charley, are real clowns!  They are more exuberant and want to play all the time.  They are more of a “get in your face” type dog, always looking for attention and affection.

Our Poodles have excellent temperaments and seem to get along with everyone, children and adults.  My husband and I made a point to start socializing them at a very early age, so they get used to people, places, sounds and riding in the car.

When there is a festival or outdoor event in town, always has and always a great success.  Everyone wants to pet, take pictures and ask all about them.  They love attention!  They are not afraid of the masses or loud noises.

Seems to be able to read body language and emotions, and I swear I can tell when you are sad or happy and react accordingly!  When I am sad, come and put my head on my lap and looks at me with his big sad eyes!  When I’m happy, jumping, smiling and waving pom-pom tail.

It is also very funny sometimes.  Our favorite Bob men sleeping on the couch (not a good thing I know), but Meg and Charley were already on the couch.  It looked as saying, “Hey, it’s my place,” and I thought them up for a while.  When he saw a pillow 16 cm x 16 small that Charley had thrown on the couch and decided to try to establish it.  Now there is a large male poodle 75 pounds!  He turned in circles on top of this pillow and finally tried to curl up on top of the pad.  It was hilarious!

Standard Poodle temperament to meet people.  They go out of their way to make her husband happy.  In all general bond in the human family rather than a single person.

As long as you have a sense of humor, and does not turn over a dog from time to time, a standard poodle to be a good choice for you.
