Why postponing happiness is a bad idea.

Do you sacrifice the present for the future?

In other words,  do you do things that make you less happy today because you believe it will make you more happy tomorrow?

For example, would you deny yourself a vacation in order to save the money for a house.

I wouldn’t

Do you deny yourself good tasting food today because you think it will make you healthier tomorrow?

I don’t

I don’t believe in sacrificing the present for the future for several reasons.

One is that there’s no guarantee that the future is going to get here. If I walk out the door and get run over by a truck, I’ll be mighty glad my last meal was a pizza rather than a salad.

Two is that it might not be necessary. What if you deny yourself the vacation to save for the house, then get a great new job with a big raise? Then you would have denied yourself a vacation for nothing.

Third and most importantly I believe happiness is unlimited and the happier you are today, the happier you will be  tomorrow.

Happiness leads to good health, good relationships and financial success. If you’re making yourself less happy today in order to be more happy tomorrow. you’re doing it backwords. You’re assuming that happiness can be saved or hoarded

The truth is that happiness always leads to more happiness
