This is a think paper on utilizing solar powered gadgets.

There was a time in history that majority of us harnessed a truly eco-friendly gadget. This was the time that using such a device was the norm rather than the exception. Can you remember what this was? I won’t leave you hanging. Yes, I’m talking about a CALCULATOR.
Before, almost everyone in my class use a solar powered calculator during Math period. No one knows that this tiny technology saves tons of waste from coal generation and battery production. During those times, all I know is that this device was the one handed over to me by my older brother and it is one that I don’t need to spend my allowance for to buy those tiny batteries.
It is only just now that I’m fully appreciating the use of solar-powered device. As the sun’s ray seems indefinite and fossil fuels are slowly running out, it’s clear that we need to make a decision now – move on to the future or burn with the past.
I for one reside in a country with limited access to oil. This makes it harder for our country to make decisions that might piss off our suppliers. With this, we are being over-powered. And with this, our potential is getting compromised.
But this shouldn’t be. There are a lot of alternative sources of energy around. We have wind, water, and solar power. Not to mention possibility of harnessing power from methane gas that we have so much around. But with all those choices, the average Juan most feasible choice is the one coming from the great yellow star.
There are a lot of companies manufacturing solar-powered gadgets, may it be locally or internationally. One of the most popular ones I found on the net are solar powered chargers. These devices can power up mobile phones, digital players, laptops, and many more. But sadly, I don’t know anyone already taking advantage of such technology. And more sadly to mention, I for one has not yet gotten my hands on one of those things.
It’s not that I didn’t try. Maybe I didn’t try hard enough. I have read countless reviews from various sites. And tried contacting people that offers these gadgets. Unfortunately, I wasn’t so lucky. I read in one supplier’s site that they have a distributor in our city but when I got to the store, the attendant told me that they do not offer such a product. I’ve been to more websites of companies offering solar chargers but sadly, most of them I cannot afford for now.
I know I need to walk the talk before someone listens to me. But let me continue on my objective anyway. I’m talking about making this a world-wide agenda. And for this to be feasible, we need a leader that will set an example and show us which path to follow. So let me ask you this, where would this role-model arise from? The government? The private sector? Time is running out. It’ll be more difficult to stay sane and have the energy to find an alternative when the thing to be replaced has already dried up.
