Pro-Piggy

            If I were to be a team captain on a show called Survival. Piggy, a character from Lord of the Flies, would be my first pick for a teammate. Lord Of The Flies is about a bunch of children stranded on an island in World War II. On Survivor, you need players who are intelligent, have good teamwork and coordination, and in some cases, you need players with strength. Piggy has most of those qualities: He would be a smart and understanding team player.

            Firstly, Piggy is an amazing listener. In the story, he is always looking after people, especially the little ones. For example, when they all start gathering on the island, Piggy is the one who finds out names and how many people there are. Additionally, in chapter five, Piggy is very attentive. When the group was all gathered around for an assembly, Piggy went over to a young boy and sat next to him. “Piggy knelt by him, one hand on the great shell, listening to the assembly.” (  ) This definitely helps for team work in Survivor, listening skills.

            Furthermore, Piggy supports democracy. He always follows the rules. Piggy always carries the conch. In Lord Of The Flies, the conch symbols leadership, equality and the right to speak. At one point in the book, Piggy is not being listened to even

though he has the conch, “I got the conch. I got a right to speak”. (42) He stands up for himself as well as for everyone else.

            Lastly, Piggy is very intelligent. When the boys are deciding their priorities, he is the one to say their priority should be to build a shelter. Also, when there was a meeting, there was a remark, “I can’t think, not like Piggy”. (78) Piggy looks after everyone and keeps them safe. Finally, he notices that there is no ‘Beastie’. The ‘Beastie’ is supposed to be the protagonist in Lord Of The Flies. It is what frightens all of the boys. This characteristic is very important for Survival because it shows that he knows what to do and when to do it.

            In the end, Piggy would be my first choice in Survival. Piggy fits all the qualities to make a perfect member of a team on the show. He would not only do well in the show, but would be an outstanding member of the government or even as a business owner. He is and always will be successful in life.
