·         In term 4 the Student Council  and Year 8s are having a Tabloid Sports Day

·         Silver Fern Farms will hopefully donate 300 sausages as they did last year

·         Taranaki Trophy games – can PTA supply orange juice and cups for home games. Sue will purchase cups and orange juice.

·         Second Hand Uniforms – Bronwyn said a couple of families are leaving and want to sell their uniform. This was discussed about whether we buy it and sell it on behalf etc. It was decided that families can sell it themselves or donate it to the school. Bronwyn will put a note in the school newsletter about this.

·         Working bees – Robyn suggested a roster of PTA members for working bees regularly to keep grounds tidy etc. Heath has employed someone temporarily  to give gardens a tidy up. Gary suggested that Heath make up a list of things that need doing and PTA will organise something.

 

 

·         CALF DAY

Ø      Is everyone happy with the name? This was discussed and it will now be called Calf and Lamb Day.

Ø      Gary to organise new sign for new name for the Community noticeboard.n

Ø      Gary looked at e-mail from Robyn after last Calf Day about the debriefing meeting. Matters to improve on are: 1: List of auction items in newsletter and programme prior to Calf and Lamb Day.  2: Another person helping with auction announcing items and sponsor.  3: Possibly someone in charge of each calf and lamb ring.  4: Spot Prizes – child gets a number on hand and goes up to a table and gets their prize. 5: Have Eftpos and no cash. We can hire eftpos from Peter Wallace Pihama Cricket Club for $30 per day. 6: Have a job list. Anne and Sue will create a job list.

Ø      Jill will purchase chocolate bars from Pak n Save but a smaller amount this year.

Ø      Information sheet on “Tips for choosing and preparing your calf”  and “Guidelines for judging” to go in newsletter.

Ø      Organise Tippets to show calf to children to demonstrate care, leading etc.

Ø      Jersey judge this year.

Ø      Bernadette to ask Riverlea  Makaka Womens Institute to judge indoor exhibits.

Ø      Calf Judges: Sue to ask Pat Wilson, and Ann to ask Rob Thwaites.

Ø      Calf Stewards:  Sue to ask May Wilson and Helen Dimock

Ø      Lamb Judges: Gary to ask Claire Poole, Jenny to ask Tony Dravitski and Robyn to ask Phil Sandford.

Ø      Lamb Stewards: Gary asking Rob Poole and Heath to ask two teachers.

Ø      Decorated Pet Judges: Ann to ask Potsy and Mark Hicks.

Ø      LIC Most Loved Calf: Heath to ask Tony Boshier to choose this.

Ø      LIC Website – Jill to register our Calf Day online

Ø      BBQ – Gary Wapp in charge of organising this.

Ø      Runners for calf and lamb rings – 5 required as one for each ring. Heath to organise children possibly for this job

Ø      Auctioneer – Vicki asked John Kelly and he is happy to do this.

Ø      Announcer – Heath

Ø      Auction Cakes – Catherine Chittenden, Kathryn Wapp, Bernadette Forsyth, Megan Gardner and Jill Corbett.

Ø      4 Square Kaponga are donating a Gift Basket of food. We could raffle this instead of asking for donations for a food raffle.

Ø      We will ask families to donate coleslaws or baking

Ø      Calf and Lamb Day Entry Forms to go out before the end of term with tips for choosing calf information.
