Thoughts on current America and the World from a Teen Perspective.

America. Land Of the Free. We are supposed to be the greatest country in the world says or leaders and elders. We are supposed to be leading the world in developments if it is Scientific, economic, militaristic or anything. Now From what I can see. We went through a time of getting judged to see if we can survive in the world. We proved ourselves back In World War Two.  Now In the year 2009 nearing 2010, I hear from left and right saying we are the most hated country in the world, That we are not wanted, We are doing everything wrong and I can understand this. I Believe this to a certain degree. Why Is it like this though? I believe it is because of our life style. And Eveything we take for granted. Im not trying to preach when i say this but we need to stop being selfish and to stop all the frivolous spending. Now Don’t get me wrong Spending is good. It is just what we need to boost the economy as more money would be circulating. Now For example when your in Best buy choosing a tv to buy. Why buy that $3500 flat screen Plasma with speakers and everything build it. When You can get A less expensive one For even $200 dollars. I have a $150 K mart TV with HD that I got on sale and it works perfect and has been for 4 years. Now lets Say you Only have $1000 saved up for that $3500 tv. Not a problem you can do payment plans. Why though? Why take the risk that you will default.  How about buy a nice $500 tv (don’t tell me there arent any good Tv’s for $500 because thats a load of crap) and spend that other $500 on something you need. Like Better groceries for your family, car payments, insurance, bills. The Point is, The world sees us buying things we cant afford (this is a known fact). If we stop spending on things that we dont want rather then that we need we will be overall atleast accepted again. These are my thoughts and I want to Listen to your replys, and by all means, Dont keep slander and flames to your self, I bathe in them.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! If america wasn’t so hell bent on maxing thier credit then the economy would not have taken such a hard hit. The average american only has enough savings to get them by for about 3 weeks. The welfare system is literally designed to only help the single and childless person to succeed. Otherwise they can only go so far before falling again. Sometimes it takes HIDING your extra cash in the matress and pretending it’s not there. This is the only reason my husband and I along with our daughter came from the brink of foreclosure to having some savings and spending money and we still have our home in good standing! It’s called Living within your means. :) Good luck and keep writing!
