Maintaining a diary about things you want to remember is important. Now since I did not write them down, I have forgotten some.
Some quips from familiar people, that I recall.
1. Setting; The terrace of a house wherein lived a joint family, granddad and all.
A child of four kept rocking violently on a deck chair.
Her father-You are not supposed to rock this way.
Child-Why shouldn’t I?
Father- You shouldn’t because you should obey your dad.
Child-Do you obey your dad also?
Father –Surely I do!
Child-Well, it is your dad who told me to rock like this.
2. Setting: Long ago at a semi rural setting. A lady was interviewing her domestic help/maid-to-be.
Lady-What does your husband work as?
Maid-he works as a thief, but since he isn’t earning enough at present, I have stepped out to work.
3. Setting:A rigmarole. Packing going on for house shifting. Packers not very advanced ones, who are using clothing instead of using packing material in between household items. They are continuously thus pestering for more garments and clothes.
Packers-Give us some more clothes.
Teenager boy-I’m afraid; well, now I take off mine and you too could
do the same.
4. Setting: Teenager errs with traffic rules while riding the scooter. He is stopped by the traffic police. The police asks
5. Him to ring up his father and call him since the boy did not have the money required to pay for penalty.
Father arrives and asks the police-Do you know who I am?
Police, taken aback-No sir, I’m afraid.
Guardian- Well, weren’t you the one who caught me yesterday for committing the same default while I was driving my car?
And isn’t this an amazing coincidence?
