An article that I wrote that was inspired by a note in book that I thought I’d share. Thank you all ahead of time for reading and Enjoy!

While I was going over a few things in my notebook; I came across a lesson that one of my previous health teachers had been teaching and while browsing through the lesson, I read a comment that I had written down which inspired me to write this article so I want you all to read and be informed on what some of your children’s teachers may be teaching. Lets get started…

So there I was in class listening to my teacher talk about health issues and how it was unhealthy to eat certain things and I was fine with interacting with her on that situation. It wasn’t until a few minutes later that I felt the need to speak up because of her comments towards being obese.

She stated and I quote “Being Fat is a disease”.  She kept stating it and the class reacted negatively towards it and she took offense! I then said to her “How can you say something like that?”

How can you stand there and teach a lesson on how being fat is unnatural and say hurtful things like that when you have students in your health class that is obese. I am sure it’s not making them secure within themselves not to mention my previous teacher wasn’t the slimmest thing walking.

You stand there in front of kids who may have an obese parent, aunt, uncle (etc) and you are literally brainwashing the students to believe something like being obese is a disease. I had a problem with it and I spoke up. The teacher had a million and one reasons on why it was ok for her to be the weight she is but it was “a disease” for others.

Is it just me or am I wrong in this situation? Please do let me know. Thank you all for reading and I do encourage you all to leave comments.

I understand. The teacher might have been lacking psychology.
    Thanks for sharing my friend!
