Educating those on the difference between supporting the soldier, or supporting the war.
Over the past few years, the war in Iraq has become more and more a staple in everyday conversation, it will go around the circle and as the next person speaks, and the time for me to open my mouth comes, my stomach bubbles with nervousness and i begin hyperventilating, i look for any way out of the conversation, excusing myself multiple times before i cannot beat around the bush any longer. Its my turn and all eyes are on me,patiently waiting for me to say my part, and as my mouth opens,i immediately regret even waking up this morning.
“I dont support the war,i support each and every soldier that is out there, and i support them coming home safely.”
silence.
only the repeated rhythm of human breathing interrupts the quiet.
Ive heard this sentence said by many people before, but why is it so hard for most to understand?
I thought that is what everyone wanted, the SOLDIERS to come home safely,a majority of people do not even want them there.Off the top of my head i can think of about 5 loved ones that are currently shipped out. Of course i support each and every one of them,i do not support the war they are fighting, since i myself do not believe in war whatsoever.
There is a difference, please do not confuse the war with the people who are fighting it,these are completely different things.
Before you jump down someones throat about this issue, think about it,i would rather someone support the soldiers being safe, then not at all.
