Thought provoking stories about software engineers during recession periods.

You might be embarrassed to know the real life of a man working in a  software firm during period of recession and financial turnmoil. The person who is working in software field is forced to come to office very early and leave very late. From morning till evening, He runs mad doing multiple roles. He has to answer and listen to his manager commands, answer to his colleague’s work related doubts. When the project gets over successfully then he is kept aside till next project. When he is idle, all call him with a nickname “Bench “. When the days passes to months, his blood pressure and heartbeat doubles fearing lay off. The person had good job history, but still has the risk of layoff.

Here is story of another software engineer working in a company in a big project.

Her marriage was fixed and she was bubbling with joy of starting a new life.. But unluckily this girl was called to her manager room and asked her to come to office to the very next day after her marriage. He promised her that he will give an amount an compensation for rescheduling her travel. To meet the commitments of office, she arranged a stay in a hostel and came for work next day after the marriage. Inspite of all these sacrifices she was released from the project, with a supposition that project will get affected in future due to her maternity leaves.

These are 2 stories of lives of engineers in software industry taken as an example or inhumane and unethical workload given during the times of recession. Many companies take the name of recession as a opportunity to reduce the manpower and increase the workload to show profitability in their balance sheets.

Is the prime aim of our lives is to show double digit growth in balance sheets and annual reports? . Companies have grown because of the hard work of employees only. Why should people encourage a company to grow when it is not ready to protect the employees at the time of recession?.Think about it and act.
