Recycling a single aluminum can provides enough energy to power a television for three hours.

That same amount of energy could light a 100 watt bulb for 4 hours. Recycling all the aluminum cans that were produced in 2002 would have conserved an amount of energy equal to over 30 million barrels of crude oil! If you throw a can in the trash, that’s the equivalent of filling that can halfway with gasoline, and then pouring it all out.

The good news pertaining to this matter is that aluminum cans have been the most recycled product in the U.S. for the past twenty years. However, the bad news is that we are still recycling just over half (54.2%) of the total number of cans we produce.

So why throw out your used cans when you can be driving around in a “can-vertible”? (Or better yet, you can just use a recycling bin…)
