Some fond thoughts on Terri Bridge, Founder of the Bee Gees Fan Club.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Terri Bridge earlier this year from pancreatic cancer. Terri was the Founder and President of the Bee Gees Fan Club and a person full of spirit and vigour. I first encountered Terri through my writing when I contributed to her site a few years back and personally found her to be a very kind and encouraging influence. In fact, we shared a mutual friend in Dr. David English, organiser of the Bunburys cricket club and indeed we both travelled to a special Bunburys game, with Barry Gibb in attendance back in May 2004 at Imber Court, Surrey.  The afternoon contained plenty of surprises and some fruitful encounters with many evocative personalities, including Barry Gibb for both Terri and myself- (do read through her insightful write-up of the occasion on her site!)

Terri was clearly loved and will be terribly missed by all in the BGFC community and of course by her family, although I’m sure she would like her spirit to be celebrated as she was an engaging person of many talents and interests.  As the BGFC home page reminds us, Terri was a lover or life, music, art, animals and she was definitely a good friend to many. She was an astute, intelligent and kind person whom we could all learn from in our approach and philosophies on life.  Her website is packed with information and content on her love of the Bee Gees and still provides a wonderful resource.  It will certainly be difficult to replace her influence and I’m sure no one would ever try to!  Instead, it might be positive to focus on what we could learn and how we could help in the fight again pancreatic cancers to lessen the suffering of others.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories of my sister, Terri. She was a remarkable person and an amazing woman. She was was a sister, friend, and mentor to me since there were 13 years between our ages. Seldom are people able to fully capture her complete zest for life, as well as her perfectly woven combination of intellectual and creative talents.

She touched and blessed many lives, and together all of our memories create a beautiful stained glass mosaic created by our tears of joy and sadness as we celebrate her new adventure in heaven while facing the void left in our hearts by her untimely departure.
