So much pain can be caused by a broken promise and particularly when the promise has been broken on purpose this pain is multiplied several fold. Conversely, if the promise is unfulfilled due to conditions beyond the control of the one making the promise, the pain is eased or even erased. In the case of those men going off to war with a fervent promise to return from battle, it is usually the wife or girlfriend and perhaps some children who are left behind and should their loved one fail to return in the case of soldiers who go missing in action, they are left in emotional limbo with little choice but to wait, often remaining faithful for years, leading an unfulfilled, lonely and wasted life, with an increased fear of separation and accumulated abandonment issues.

Such issues stemming from a past incarnation can trigger fear of abandonment in the current life time if such issues have never been dealt with and this can lead to irritating and seemingly unwarranted clinginess in present life relationships.
