It is wise to sometimes retreat from daily life to recollect old thoughts and ambitions. And also collect new goals that beg to be captured.
Today’s world caters demands and stress. Either it be a work load at home or at you day job, life seems meaningless at times. Do we deserve better? Do we deserve to have the good life? To me, money is not the answer to happiness. Yes, it is good to have money to enjoy oneself. But what does your inner self have to say about it? I enjoy the night time chill or the sunny fun that caresses my body. My artistic mind has its needs as well. People can be fit physically, but hurting and sick in the mind. The human mind is the life force that drives our bodies. Let’s face it, life is so unfair. Due to the obligation to succeed in life. It is a war between the ones who need jobs and the ones who provide them. Job schedules these days invade our “set apart” weekends. The hard working person is slammed into submission and rarely has no choice. that is a true miscarriage of justice.
On my days off from work or whatever, I like to journey out to my sacred field for enlightenment and peace of mind. I grew up around where I live and have a few places that go and meditate. I leave behind all the pollution of today’s troubles. I can feel the wind blowing my hair back, hear the birds sing, and smell the plant life. I know that I am safe out there in my solitude. I am part of nature and it is part of me. I time travel back in thought about the earlier days of innocence. Like when I was a child learning to ride a bike or my first girlfriend. Memories demand to be let out to breath and I let them out. Some of them are good, funny, sad, bad, etc.
I also travel forward to my future. I wonder if I will be more successful, a good dad, better granddad and if I will ever find my true soul mate. I get inspiration from that and do write about with a thunder that I feel the Gods can hear. There is no technology, bills, traffic, drama, religion, and politics where I am at. It is only me connecting with my inner self. I seek wisdom and knowledge and usually get it and more. Visiting past ghosts is not always bad if properly approached.
I will always have my place, my retreat to go to. It is imparative for people to take that special time to get away from it all and find that inner sanctuary. We all have a past, present, and future. It is a matter of placing them in their proper category. Retreat does not always mean defeat.
