I review the Artemis Fowl series, written by Eoin Colfer.
I will be reviewing the Artemis Fowl series, written by Eoin Colfer, on my quest to review the books I adore. The first six books are as follows. Artemis Fowl, Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code, Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception, Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony, Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox.
First I will review the original. Artemis Fowl is on a quest to get fairy gold. He wants to use these funds to rescue his dad from the Arctic. He captures a fairy and all hell brakes lose. Artemis Fowl is an Irish Prodigy. He is despicable, but you know he is the good guy. He is always two steps ahead, a genius. His companion, Butler, is his body guard. They travel the world with no consequences, because his mother has a mental condition and never leaves her room. He manages to get a copy of The Book, the fairy bible. He then captures a female Fair, Holly, and takes her captive for a large amount of gold. The Fairies then try to rescue her. The entire book is fast paced, and i found myself staying up to past midnight reading it. Also with laugh out loud humor, this is a very enjoyable book. The characters are complex, and it is hard to know their true motives. It is spectacular to see how all the pieces in Artemis’ plan fit together, along with that of the Fairies. Along with the twist ending, this is a book I have reread many times. Eoin also makes symbols for the fairy language, and I spent my time figuring out how to read it. He leaves a trail of the symbols at the bottom that tell a story.
Now I will review the Arctic Incident. Artemis learns of the Russian Mafiya holding his father captive. Meanwhile, the Fairies are in the middle of a Goblin revolution. The Fairies suspect Artemis as the culprit, and is taken for interrogation. After being found innocent, he agrees to help the Fairies, under the condition that they help rescue his father. They find their culprit, and go to rescue his father. On the way, they discover all is not what it seems. The must figure out the true culprit, and restore peace to the fairy world. Action packed, this is another great story from Eoin Colfer. More characters are brought into the mix, and everything got a lot more complicated.
