Ray Decerega is the man who recently elbowed President Obama in the lip this Thanksgiving weekend. The President’s injury required 12 stitches after the White House Hoops Invitational. Decerega was a basketball star in 1991, when he played for the St. Steven’s basketball team in Alexandria, VA. The elbow to the face split the President’s lip open so it should heal quickly with the stitches without any permanent damage except for a small scar. Witnesses saw the president walk away from the game with gauze pressed to his mouth, likely to control the bleeding. The game was at Fort McNair, and Decerega was playing on the team opposing the team Obama was on. Reportedly Decerega tried to throw the ball and didn’t see the president nearby. The president seems to be doing fine and has events scheduled later.
