Interpreting ways to be successful.

Some people say perseverance others say it all amounts to connections and in the end I think it is one or both.If you work hard but don’t get the exposure you need to espouse your work no one will talk about what you can do and will be largely unknown. If success to you is not based on publicity and a greater public image than forget about exposure. It all depends on what you want from life and some people could not care less about newspaper coverage and agent calls or author readings.

Then again you could be a person who originally wanted success connected to being on  teenage magazines or movie reviews. Then when you matured into another mould, that kind of need wore off. So you decided to do volunteer community work and gave up your time to humanitarian needs. So the Mia Farrow of today is probably more renowned for her humanitarian work than having been Woody’s consort in his films. Images of people can change over the years.

Recognition of what an individual is capable of can also change. I remember hearing the late Paul Newman say something about having been appreciated more for his business endeavors and community work. He  contributed to a foundation in Montreal for the needy in his later years but was also a great benefactor.

People should think that their stay on this planet is small in comparison to what was before or after. So it would not be a bad idea to think about how you can leave a good lasting impression when you are gone instead of just thinking about Hollywood-like reviews. But the paradox is had there not been Hollywood sensationalism that Newman had would he have been as generous as he was?Had Mia Farrow not collaborated with Woody Allen and gained further notoriety would she have been the magnet that she is for humanitarian causes?Life can take many directions.
