An unemployed person comments on her personal situation.

What I am looking for is a job. All I really want is the paycheck.  I suppose my wish came true, I am sitting at home collecting employment insurance. That’s not really what I meant. A trust fund is more what I was aiming for. Is it possible for a 40 yr old with no wealthy relatives to get a trust fund? So my strategy is to buy lottery tickets. My husband and I put enough money towards them, I think they owe us something. The tickets from charities have done well for us. My husband seems fairly lucky there. He has won three portable stereos, a cordless phone set, one portable DVD player, one MP3 player, and two gift certificates to a bookstore. He always is the gentleman and lets me have the gift certificates. We are sure the big win is coming! Soon!

Since I am collecting employment insurance from the government I feel I owe them something in return, so I have been educating myself.  I am a writer wannabe. So is every second person out there. With my overactive imagination, and the time I have on my hands, I figure I have a shot. It gives me something to do for now. I purchased some grammar books along with some books on punctuation. The secret to my success is to be better than all the rest! Reading all the classics is part of my strategy as well. Hopefully they will teach me something I didn’t know before. If not, then I will be well entertained until something else comes up. Just in time, my husband won another gift certificate to a bookstore, and I can stock up on my education materials.

I am reading “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn”. The Tom Sawyer part was good but Huck Finn’s lingo doesn’t go well with my grammar lessons. Wilbur Smith is waiting for me to read one of his novels as well. Smith is better with the grammar maybe it will go better with my lessons.

Writing a book is another way to keep busy. I have this great idea. There are several of them as a matter of fact. When I sit down to develop the characters, they all turn out to be good guys. The antagonist keeps disappearing! One of them is going to have to buck up and be the bad guy or it won’t be much of a story.

    Snicker,

That was great. I am one of those people you have bumpped into on the internet. I am thankful to be employed at the moment. But when I was 40 something, I was looking for work and at that time could say the exact same thing, nothing I had done up to that point left me with any skills I could really take to the current work force. Maybe if you can stay home long enough your writing skills will prove monetary. I am horrible with grammar, so I am sure this has errors! Smiles Shawna
