Opinion on music by Andersenmast and blogger L.E.

So, we all know music is great. Music is fun. Music expresses things that we don’t bother to express in simple text, poetry, etc. etc. etc.
It’s an outlet. It’s a release. Everybody listens to music in some way, shape or form. You sing it at church, you hear it in movies, you blast it while driving down I-95 across the East coast. All in all, music is everywhere. And like I said, it’s an outlet. You sing it at church. But the problem is, there is a lot of misconception that music is an outlet for Satanism.
The problem lies within hardcore Christians. A lot of these people are very into calling people out on Satanism and boycotting everything there is about that person. Because it’s evil and Anti-Christlike. And of course, everything that has something mildly shocking, or has blood, or an upside cross, or an upside down pentagram, or anything with lots of black leather is SATANIC. Now, this misconception is incredibly wrong.
Let’s take for example Lady GaGa. Conservative Christians and Catholics alike have condemned her for her blasphemous acts, music videos and performances. The problem with it is…
Just like most other artists that use such things, it’s shock value. Pure shock value. It gives them fame. By condemning then, you are giving them exactly what they want. Controversy. Controversy sparks interest. Brilliant business plan, no? Well, it is. Everyone buys into the, “LOOK AT THE ALEJANDRO VIDEO, IT’S SO BLASPHEMOUS!” bullshit that none of the condemners realize that you are giving into exactly what the business wants. More money, more attention. Thank you for that, as you are fueling the wonderful world of the music industry.
Nothing is better than using blasphemous imagery to get your music jumpstarted. Hell, there’s entire genres dedicated to the use of Satanic imagery. Black metal, shock rock, etc. It’s all about the shock value. The craziness of it gets people pumped. It’s a genre all in it’s own. And yet people are still on misconceptions that these people are truly Satanic.
A lot of music is an act. For these people, irreligion is one of them.
The one thing people need to stop doing is analyze every little part of music to prove that something is Satanic. If I put enough effort into it, I can make the most Christian bands(Red, Flyleaf, all those Christian rock bands) look like they support Satan. It’s just interpretation. Interpretation that people take too far. These people put more interpretation into a music video than your English teacher puts into a page of a novel.(Just a metaphor, I strongly support the analyzing of literature.)
All in all, it’s just interpretation. Bad ones, at that.
Now, let’s go listen to some Shining, Demoncy, Bathory and forget about all this hype on Satanism in music.
