Battle of the Blades skaters Georges Laraque and Anabelle Langlois encountered a second accident involving stitches during a "Second Chance" practice last Thursday. Both skaters are skating for the charity "Hockey for Haiti".
Injury seems to plague Battle of the Blades couple Georges Laraque and Anabelle Langlois as the couple met with a second accident during this Thursday’s afternoon practice.
The couple, who were originally eliminated from the show during the second week of the season, returned for a chance to win re-entry into the contest in a special “Second Chance” episode to air Halloween night, October 31st, 2010.
During practice, while attempting to do an on-ice twist, Laraque tripped during mid-move and the stumble sent both skaters falling to the ice.
Laraque appeared to be fine, however, Langlois, who fell from more than six feet in the air, landed hard on the ice face-down and was taken to the hospital for x-rays after complaining of pain in her knees.
Luckily the skater only needed three stitches on one of her knees, otherwise only suffering from scratches and bruises.
Despite the incident, both skaters are determined that they will skate in Sunday’s show. Langlois later twittered that “We had a good practice today, I’m sore but fine. I can walk & skate no problem
like I said yesterday just scratches & bruises”.
The pair’s first accident occurred earlier this month, also during a practice, when the couple was attempting to perform a maneuver called the chain saw, in which Laraque swings Langlois around his neck. Langlois lost her balance and was falling head first toward the ice. Laraque reached out to break her fall and Langlois, out of control, unknowingly sliced Laraque on his left temple, resulting in 12 stitches.
