We should not wait for a second chance. Let us seize the opportunity to live life to the fullest today.
Sometimes we end up having realizations in life after watching movies. The movie Charlie St. Brown taught me to love life, to sacrifice, to let go and to take second chances in life. It also made me believe in miracles.
Charlie St. Cloud, a boy in his early adulthood, a boy who has a great future ahead of him suddenly loses his brother. He lost himself in the process, he threw away his dreams, aspirations and his future. He spent the next 5 years of his second chance in life working in a cemetery and playing baseball with his dead brother’s soul every sunset. Then he suddenly bumps with Tess, a sailor who dreams of sailing around the world. He is suddenly torn between his brother’s and Tess world. Then the most unexpected events happened. Tess turns out to be a dying soul. Charlie then sails of to save Tess. He suddenly realizes that it is time for his brother’s soul to go and for him to move on his life. He was given a second chance in life to save Tess.
Events in our lives happened because they were meant to be. We don’t get explanations about this events. Reasons for this events are sometimes not laid to us, for whatever reasons why it was kept unknown to us, we should not bother to ask. Some things in life are better off unexplained. So we are left to two choices, the first one is to live our life to the fullest, without uncertainties, without hesitations, without the “what ifs?”. Or the second choice, be given a second chance in life before realizing that we should have live our lives to the fullest ever since.
One of the biggest mistakes I have ever committed in my life is not being able to live each day to the fullest. I am too lazy to wake up. Most of the times, I do not see things worth living for. But things change when we mature. Ever since we had kids in the house, things where different. We had things to look forward to. The first time she calls me “ninang”, her newest version of the chicken dance, a new song she’s singing out of tune. We should not live our lives because of a reason, we just have to, because sometimes, living our lives may be the reason someone else is making the most out of theirs.
