Short prose piece inspired by photographs of spectacles – glasses, shades, goggles – in various settings.

In his Manhattan apartment, the middle-aged white man with greying wavy hair and square frame glasses surfed the Internet on his olive-green laptop. Random images came up in a video transition download.
First was a picture of a ginger-haired, bearded Italian team cyclist, goggles-style spectacles stained by his perspiration, signing an autograph for a young female fan before the Beijing Olympics road race.
Next up was an image of influential jazz- composer and pianist Herbie Hancock, working on his 1970s jazz/funk compositions on the synthesizer – his long fingers reflected in his wrap around shades.
In the next picture, a middle-aged Van Morrison was seen, watching a silent 1920s movie in a Los Angeles arthouse cinema. Through his designer Ray-Bans could be seen the image of two ghost-white dancers performing an energetic tango.
The fourth image was of a pensive David Beckham, seen on holiday in an exclusive an resort, kicking around a beach ball while pondering his loan deal from LA Galaxy to AC Milan.
The last picture was the most intriguing and arousing. In the background, a young suntanned brunette pole-danced topless, her diamond-studded belt distorted by bright spotlights. In the foreground, aviator shades were perched on a casino’s metallic gambling table - studded with cut-out shapes of clubs, spades, hearts and diamonds.
