Here are seven things you can do to stay safe, and keep yourself out of harm.
1.Try and avoid drinking heavily or using drugs. These substances tend to reduce your common sense and impair your judgement, thus making you more vulnerable to an attack.
2. Carry an alarm. If you’re a woman and you’re out and about. Carry a personal alarm that you can use if you get attacked to scare off an attacker.
3. Avoid notorious areas. If you know of an area that is notorious for being unsafe. Don’t go there unaccompanied.
4. Keep your belongings close. Make sure your belongings are kept safe where no one can snatch them with ease or away from easy access of pickpockets
5.Let people know where you are. Make sure that if you are travelling at night for instance that you check in with someone trusted so they know where you are.
6. Avoid people who make you feel uncomfortable. Sometimes you get a feeling about a person that makes you feel uncomfortable. Listen to your intuition and avoid those people so as to keep yourself safe.
7. Avoid public transport or walking alone after dark. When there not so many people around, it can make you vulnerable to attack. Try and avoid going on public transport or walking alone at night times, unless you really have to. Take a taxi, or go by car to stay safe.
